From Mumbai to New Delhi - Introduction to Bhangra and Bollywood
Sink yourself into the allure and mystery of India. This mini-session is a great way to introduce yourself to both the high energy Bhangra dance (a folk dance of Northern India/Punjab) and the free-spirited moves of Bollywood. In each class, we will work through both Bhangra and Bollywood moves and combinations building upon a complete dance. This is not a class for the slug. You will sweat! This dance will make you laugh and realize you have never had so much fun while sweating at the same time. Come with a good supportive bra, water, yoga mat (warm up and cool down will be yoga), any knee support you may need and a 'can-do' attitude because you can do it. And you WILL love it, I promise.

FUTURE CLASSES:
Along the Ganges - Adding Indian Stylization
With the gaze of the eyes, the position of your head, the energy of your hands, adding Indian stylization to your belly dance can bring drama and beauty. In this class, each part of the body will be explored. Head slides, eye slides, mudras, and temple poses will be demonstrated, discussed and broken down. Combinations will be created and incorporated into our dance as we build our understanding and ability to fuse these styles together. Participants should bring water and a yoga mat. The class will begin and end with yoga.
Who is am I? Hypatia Innais:
Dance began at a very young age for me. As most children,
I studied ballet as well as tap and jazz and later as a young adult moved into
the more urban dance of hip hop both as a performer and instructor. It wasn't
till 5 years ago that I feel in love with the art form of belly dance. Over the
past three years, I have placed my focus on Tribal Fusion. Tribal Fusion gave me
the opportunity to utilize my previous urban dance experience as well as explore
and fuse other dance styles into
my belly dance.
I have had the great opportunity to study intensively with Rachel Brice and Suhaila Salimpour on multiple
occasions. I have also taken workshops/classes from Mardi Love, Zoe Jakes, Ariellah, Sharon Kihara, Moira Chappelle, Samantha Riggs and many others.
I continue to study with a variety of individuals and am currently planning a dance study intensive to San Francisco later this summer
along with completing the first level of certification with the Suhaila Salimpour
School of Dance. As well, I have begun the first steps towards a
certification as a yoga instructor. My year long study begins this fall.
